If you cannot feed a hundred people, then feed just one.
– Mother Teresa
According to Feeding America’s ‘Map the Meal Gap’ study released earlier this year, 1 in 10 people in New York face hunger and 1 in 7 are children.
Please join us in helping to make a difference in our communities. ACA/NY will host a food drive from November 16th through December 16th to support local food pantries. During the Food Drive, CCO staff will have the opportunity to donate non-perishable food items at their office locations. Each participating office will have a labeled drop-off area located at the front desk.
We will update you on progress over the coming weeks, sharing photos as food donations grow.
Food banks accept dry and canned food donations. What does that mean? Basically, any food that is “shelf-stable” or nonperishable – you can keep it in your pantry and it won’t go bad. And remember, only donate food that hasn’t reached its “sell-by” date yet. Specifically, food banks often need items like:
Astoria Food Pantry |
Community Services Associates |
Staten Island Hunger Task Force |
Long Island Cares |
Food Bank of NYC |
Thank you for your support in helping to feed the hungry in our communities!
