CELEBRATE AAPI HERITAGE MONTH IN MAY

Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is celebrated during the month of May. This is a time to acknowledge and celebrate the rich history, contributions, and diverse cultures of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians.

Jennifer Lee, founder and Executive Director of Asian Americans with Disabilities Initiative. The AADI aims to help equip the next generation of disabled Asian leaders with the tools they need to succeed.

Lee created the initiative after being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2020. She realized she wasn’t alone in her journey and wanted to encourage others to embrace their Asian American heritage, as well as their disabilities.

 

Alice Wong is the founder and director of the Disability Visibility Project. It is an only community dedicated to creating, sharing, and amplifying disability media and culture. Wong identifies as a person with disabilities, as well as an activist, writer, editor, media maker, and consultant. Wong’s areas of interest are popular culture, media, politics, disability representation, Medicaid policies and programs, storytelling, social media, and activism.

 

Tiffany Yu is the CEO of Diversability. The Diversability network has helped expand disability pride for those with disabilities. Yu is an advocate, podcaster, and a person with disabilities. In addition to being the founder of Diversability, she was the founder of the Awesome Foundation Disability Chapter, host of the podcast Tiffany & Yu, and is also an author and content creator.
