OPWDD Certified Houses Visitor Updates

OPWDD Certified houses can allow visits beginning Friday, June 19th.

COVID-19 has impacted people in many ways. From social distancing to economic shutdowns

Many families with loved ones diagnosed with an intellectual and/or developmental disability(I/DD) have not been able to see their loved ones for months as a result of restrictions enacted because of COVID-19.  Often, video conferencing or phone calls are not practical options of communication for those residing in an OPWDD certified home.

Some good news! Gov. Cuomo announced during his daily briefing Tuesday that hospitals will be able to allow visitors in beginning this week. Likewise, group homes will be able to accept visitors effective Friday, June 19th.

Discretion is being left to each provider, please contact you provider for more details.
